Catalan's Conjecture PROVEN (Catalan's Conjecture states that the only two powers (greater than one) of integers, that are one apart, are 8 and 9)
The buzz in the math community is that this may have been proven by number theorist Preda Mihailescu in an unpublished manuscript distributed to several mathematicians. See Wolfram's site and studyworksonline.com. The best reference I can find to a proof of the conjecture is: Yu.F. Bilu, Catalan's conjecture (after Mihailescu), Séminaire Bourbaki, Exposé 909, 55ème année (2002-2003); http://www.math.u-bordeaux.fr/%7Eyuri/publ/preprs/catal.pdf which itself is an unpublished manuscript, but will soon be published.
I think the best thing to do at this point is wait until this proof is either refuted or published. In other words, if on the due date there is a proof in circulation that has been neither refuted nor published, I will wait for one or the other to happen for up to a year. If neither happens in that time then I will close the claim FALSE.
