Claim cryoni - revival of frozen mammal

Category: Science & Technology:Medicine, Biochemistry JUDGED at 0
Owner:247, genedoc
Judge:97, Loophole
created:1997/12/10
due date:2002/12/31

The Claim

Cryonics is beginning to look closer to reality with the advent of a new hydrocarbon fluid that can replace the blood in a body and be used to cool the body very quickly. The fluid is non-toxic, and has a very low freezing point. Extremely fast (>1 degree/minute) cooling can reduce or eliminate freezing-associated damage by minimizing ice crystal formation. This is a large step in being able to successfully revive a frozen person without the need for nanotechnology.

This claim will be judged as true if a placental mammal of at least 50 pounds in weight that has been frozen to -100 degrees F (or colder) for at least 1 hour is revived without evidence of tissue or brain damage, as determined by microscopic and behavioral tests. The deadline is 12/31/2002.
